About Shauna

Shauna founded Mihalko Yoga in late 2025 after completing her Yoga teacher certification through Yogamour Yoga and Healing Arts Center. Shauna found yoga in the summer of 2012, when a coworker asked her to take a Bikram Yoga class after work, when she was teaching summer school in Chelsea (Manhattan), and has been connected to the practice ever since.

In 2016, after moving to Annapolis, Maryland, Shauna began practicing daily at two local studios. One of those studios was run by a fellow New Yorker (Prana Annapolis), and she felt it was the place where she would expand her knowledge, practice, and grow as a yogi. At the other studio, she also began exploring outdoor and SUP Yoga (YogaVibez Edgewater), which deepened her appreciation for nature-based practices. From this, the core foundation of Mihalko Yoga was established.

When Shauna and her husband relocated to Frederick County to buy a home in 2024, Shauna enrolled in a 200-hour teacher-training program through the studio where she had been practicing to gain further knowledge and refine her skills. In addition to this training, Shauna sought further training from other local experts (Roots and River Brunswick & Blue Lotus Annapolis) to balance her practice, specializing in Trauma-informed Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Anatomy.
Mihalko Yoga offers vinyasa and yin yoga through a trauma-informed lens. Shauna credits her teaching knowledge and style not only to the awesome fellow yogis and mentor teachers she has met and worked with, but also to her training as a K-12 Educator for almost 20 years. Lastly, Mihalko Yoga came to be through the inspiration and friendship of her late cousin, Andrea Barton. Andrea was a truly inspiring friend and Yogi, and was called back to God after battling cervical cancer for nine years in April of 2025.

Shauna lives with her husband, two dogs, and their cat in Brunswick and enjoys hiking and teaching middle school science when she is not doing yoga.
